All RVLS products are made with locally sourced organic materials, and mixed in house. Our inputs are meticulously measured in order to ensure the highest quality and consistency.
RVLS Growing Media Inputs
Our RVLS blends have a proven track record of producing healthy plants and above average yields without having to add any nutrients throughout the entire grow, only watering!
As opposed to many other living soils on the market who use compost as their main input, our base is comprised of professional grade Canadian sphagnum peat moss, high quality worm castings, along with equal parts plant-based compost and RVLS Charged Biochar. All inputs in growing medias are approved for organic use by the USDA.

Biochar, according to the Rochester Institute of Technology, is defined as a carbon-rich material that is made from biomass through a thermochemical conversion process known as pyrolysis.
In other words, it is biological material that is heated up and charred in the absence of oxygen. It is a highly-porous type of charcoal that has been used for thousands of years as a soil enhancer. If you’re interested in learning more about the origins of biochar, do some looking into terra preta.
-
The simplest way to explain this is to think of biochar like a battery. In order for your plants to get the most out of your living soil, that battery needs to be fully charged. We charge our biochar with a blend of beneficial plant nutrients and a diverse blend of beneficial microorganisms.
